Azaghâl Lord of Belegost in First Age. Slain by Glaurung in Nirnaeth Arnoediad in year 473 FA. Wounded Glaurung, due to what he retreated.
Balin Born in Third Age 2763. He was of Durin's House and was a member of Thorin and Company. After 2941 lived in Erebor and in TA 2989-2994 was the King of Khazad-dûm. Was slain by an Orc in 2994.
Bifur Was a member of Thorin and Company, after 2941 lived in Erebor, died in TA 3018.
Blacklocks A kindred of the Dwarves. They awoke far eastwards.
Bodruith Lord of Belegost in FA. Slain during the attempt to seize the Nauglamír.
Bofur Was a member of Thorin and Company. After 2941 lived in Erebor, died in TA 3018.
Bombur Was a member of Thorin and Company. After 2941 lived in Erebor and was so fat, that he could not move by himself, but required six dwarves to lift him up. Died in TA 3018.
Borin TA 2450-2711, he was of Durin's House, 2-nd son of Náin the 2nd . Lived in the Ered Mithrin until 2590, when he joined Thrór, who went to Erebor.
Broadbeams A kindred of the Dwarves. They awoke in the Ered Luin.
Dáin the 1st TA 2440-2589, King of Durin's House. Was slain in the Ered Mithrin by a cold-drake in his palace.
Dáin the 2nd Ironfoot TA 2767-3019. Killed Azog in Azanulbizar in 2799, became the lord of the Dwarves in the Iron Hills in 2805. Was King of Durin's House in Erebor after 2941, was himself killed in the WR in the Battle of Dale.
Dís Born in TA 2760, she was of Durin's House and the only daughter of Thráin the 2nd . She was the mother of Fíli and Kíli.
Dori He was of Durin's House and a member of Thorin and Company. After 2941 lived in Erebor, died in TA 3018.
Durin the 1st Born in the deeps of time in FA. The ancestor of Durin's Folk, the eldest and most renown of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves. He slept alone and awoke under Mount Gundabad. Began the building of Khazad-dûm. He lived to a vast age and was therefore called Durin the Deathless. It was believed among the Dwarves, that one day he would rise again.
Durin the 2nd Lived in the end of the first millennium of Second Age. King of Durin's House and Khazad-dûm during the building of the West-gate.
Durin the 3rd Lived in the middle of the second millennium of SA . King of Durin's House and Khazad-dûm during the forging of the Rings of Power. He was given the chief of the Seven by Celebrimbor himself.
Durin the 6th TA 1731-1980. King of Durin's House and Khazad-dûm. During his reign the Balrog was released and he was slain by it.
Durin the 7th Lived in the beginning of Fourth Age. The last King of Durin's House. Returned to Moria and re-established it.
Dwalin TA 2772-Fourth Age 92. He was of Durin's House, the 2-nd son of Fundin. Was a member of Thorin and Company, lived after 2941 in Erebor. He lived to a vast age- 340 years.
Dwarves Called themselves Khazâd, name given to them by Aulë. The Elves called them Hadhod, Gonnhirrim, Nauglar, Nauglath, Nauglir, Naugrim, Nautar, Noegyth and Nogothrim.
Fangluin Bluebeard the Aged. Lived in FA and urged the Dwarves to attack Thingol and revenge the insult.
Farin TA 2560-2803. He was of Durin's House and son of Borin and father of Fundin and Gróin.
Fíli TA 2859-2941. He was of Durin's House, son of Dís and Thorin's nephew. He was a member of Thorin and Company and was slain in the Battle of the Five Armies, while defending Thorin's body.
Firebeams A kindred of the Dwarves. They awoke in the Ered Luin.
Flói He went to Khazad-dûm with Balin, but was slain in a battle outside the Great Gates in TA 2989. He was buried near Mirrormere.
Forn Name given to Tom Bombadil by the Dwarves.
Frár He went to Khazad-dûm with Balin and was slain defending Durin's Bridge and the Second Hall in TA 2994.
Frerin TA 2751-2799. He was of Durin's House, second son of Thráin the 2nd and younger brother of Thorin the 2nd . He escaped from Erebor in 2770 and was slain in Azanulbizar.
Frór TA 2552-2592. He was of Durin's House, second son of Dáin the 1st . He was slain with his father in the Ered Mithrin by a dragon.
Fundin TA 2662-2799. He was of Durin's House, son of Farin and father of Balin and Dwalin. Slain in Azanulbizar.
Gamil Zirak Called the Old. Smith of Nogrod in FA and the master of Telchar.
Gimli Born in TA 2879. He was of Durin's House, son of Glóin. After 2941 lived with his father in Erebor. In 3018 he became a member of the Company of the Ring. He fought all the major battles of WR and after it became the Lord of the Glittering Caves. He forged new gates of Minas Tirith of steel and mithril. In Fourth Age 120 he sailed over the Sea with Legolas. He was called Elf-friend and Lock-bearer, because of the hair given to him by Galadriel.
Glóin TA 2136-2385. King of Durin's House in the Ered Mithrin in2283-2385.
Glóin TA 2783-Fourth Age 15. He was of Durin's House, son of Gróin and father of Gimli. He was a companion of Thráin and Thorin in their wanderings after the Battle of Azanulbizar and was a member of Thorin and Company. After 2941 settled down in Erebor and became rich and important. In 3018 he took part in the Council of Elrond.
Gróin TA 2671-2923. He was of Durin's House, son of Farin and father of Óin and Glóin.
Grór TA 2563-2805. He was of Durin's House, youngest son of Dáin the 1st and father of Náin. He founded the Dwarvish realm in the Iron Hills.
Ibun Lived in the 5-th c. of FA. Son of Mîm of Noegyth Nibin.
Ironfists A kindred of Dwarves. They awoke far eastwards.
Khîm Son of Mîm of Noegyth Nibin. Slain in FA 486 by one of Túrin's outlaws.
Kíli TA 2864-2941. He was of Durin's House, son of Dís, nephew of Thorin. He was a member of Thorin and Company and slain in the Battle of the Five Armies, while defending Thorin's body with his brother Fíli.
Longbeards Durin's Folk. Also called Andafangar, Anfangrim, Indrafangs, Indrafangin, Indravangs and Sigin-târag.
Lóni He went to Khazad-dûm with Balin in TA 2989, but was slain in 2994, while defending Durin's Bridge and the Second Hall.
Mahal Name given to Aulë by the Dwarves.
Mîm One of the last of Noegyth Nibin. Betrayed Túrin to the Orcs and after the departure of Glaurung settled in the ruined halls of Nargothrond, where he bound the treasure to himself with many spells. He was slain by Húrin in FA 502 and before death cursed the gold, so that it afterwards brought evil to all, who had dealings with it Thingol, Beren etc. Nauglamír was made of this gold.
Náin the 1st TA 1832-1981. King of Durin's House and Khazad-dûm for one year. He was slain by the Balrog.
Náin the 2nd TA 2338-2585. King of Durin's House in the Ered Mithrin.
Náin TA 2665-2799. He was of Durin's House, son of Grór and father of Dáin Ironfoot. He was slain by Azog in the Battle of Azanulbizar.
Náli He went with Balin to Khazad-dûm in TA 2989, but was slain in 2994, while defending Durin's Bridge and the Second Hall.
Nár He was a companion of Thrór in his wanderings in the 28-th c. of TA and was used as a messenger of the Orcs of Khazad-dûm to tell about the murder of Thrór.
Narvi Lived in the second half of the first millennium of SA. Maker of the West-gate of Khazad-dûm.
Naugladur Lord of the Dwarves of Nogrod in FA. He led the attack against Thingol and slew him, captured the Nauglamír and wore it around his neck. Aferwards fought with Beren and would have slain him, but stumbled and Beren slew him.
Nori He was of Durin's House and a member of Thorin and Company.
Óin TA 2238-2488. King of Durin's House (2385-2488) in the Ered Mithrin.
Óin TA 2774-2994. He was of Durin's House, elder son of Gróin. He was also a member of Thorin and Company, in 2941 settled in Erebor, but 2989 went with Balin to Khazad-dûm. He was slain by the Watcher in the Water in 2994.
Ori He was of Durin's House and a member of Thorin and Company. In 2989 he left Erebor and went to Khazad-dûm with Balin, where he died in 2994 in the last defense in the Chamber of Mazarbul.
Petty-Dwarves A group of Dwarves driven to Beleriand by other Dwarves early in the FA. Also called Nibin-noeg, Nibin-nogrim and Noegyth Nibin.
Stiffbeards A kindred of the Dwarves. They awoke far eastwards.
Stonefoots A kindred of the Dwarves. They awoke far eastwards.
Telchar The most renowned smith of Nogrod in FA . He forged Narsil, the sword of Elendil, and Angrist, the knife of Curufin later taken from him by Beren. It was used to cut the Silmaril from Melkor's Iron Crown it cut iron easily.
Tharkûn The name of Gandalf among Dwarves.
Thorin the 1st TA 2035-2289. King of Durin's House 2190-2289. He led a large number of Durin's Folk from Erebor to Ered Mithrin.
Thorin the 2nd TA 2746-2941. King of Durin's House in exile. He fought bravely in Azanulbizar and after it lived in Ered Luin with his father Thráin the 2nd . In 2941 he decided to reclaim the Dwarf-Kingdom in Erebor from Smaug. Smaug was killed, but he himself in the Battle of the Five Armies. He was known as Thorin Oakenshield, because in the Battle of Azanulbizar he used an oak-branch as a shield and club.
Thorin the 3rd Born in TA 2866 and King of Durin's House in Erebor. After the downfall of Sauron he and Bard the 2nd routed the army of Easterlings besieging Erebor. He was known also as Thorin Stonehelm.
Thorin and Company Expedition organized by Thorin the 2nd to restore the Kingdom under the Mountain in Erebor. The members were: Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Fíli, Kíli, Dori, Nori, Óin, Glóin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur and Bilbo Baggins. Gandalf accompanied them also for a while. The quest was successful and greatly influenced the future (War of the Ring).
Thráin the 1st TA 1934-2190. King of Durin's House from 1981. He led his people from Khazad-dûm to Erebor in 1999 and there founded the Kingdom under the Mountain and discovered the Arkenstone. Called Thráin the Old by Thorin Oakenshield.
Thráin the 2nd TA 2644-2850. King of Durin's House in exile (2790-2850). He led Dwarves in Azanulbizar and lost an eye there. In 2845 he was captured by Sauron and imprisoned in Dol Guldur. He was tormented for five years and his Ring of Power taken from him. Gandalf met him in Dol Guldur and received the map and key, afterwards used by Thorin the2nd.
Thrór TA 2542-2790. King of Durin's House in 2589-2790. He led his people back to Erebor From the Ered Mithrin because of dragons. In 2790 he escaped from Smaug and became a wanderer with a small company. At his old age he resolved to go to Moria, but Azog slew him and defiled his body. This led to the War of Dwarves and Orcs.
